Oljeitu was a descendant of Genghis Khan who ordered to construct this huge brick monument for his memorial in 14th century. The massive size of turquoise brick dome over this octagonal building is visible from kilometers away. The area around this monument is called Sultaniyeh and was Mongols' Persian capital from 1302, we can still see the remains of the city wall and some other buildings from that time. Soltanieyh Dome is one the world's largest domes and the earliest existing examples of the double- shelled domes in Iran. There are eight minarets, and a network of brick arches and vaults around the dome. Inside a building is finely and richly decorated with plaster works and we can reach the top on the building through narrow and spiral staircase.Italian scholars believe that very famous dome in Florence by Brunelleschi was made by the influence of this dome.
