About the tour

Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Winter Solstice Bonfire will rise again. After the cancellation in 2020, this year it's really roaring. There's something hypnotic about watching flames leaping into the night sky from a massive bonfire. When live music, fire lanterns, strolling entertainers and storytelling are added to the mix, it will be an evening to remember. The Feast of Yule was a pre-Christian festival observed in Scandinavia at the time of the Winter Solstice. Fires were lit to symbolise the heat, light and life-giving properties of the returning sun. It's a time to set goals and intentions for the coming year, to examine and let go of our past, and to make changes within ourselves. The Solstice is essentially tied to a personal awakening as we wait for the sun to return. Come and celebrate the Winter Solstice at the Collingwood Children’s Farm, a much loved non-profit organisation.

Meet Susanna

Susanna

Susanna is an avid reader of historical detective novels, a radio producer, civil celebrant, over-worked grandmother and, for fun, she reconstructs Ancient Roman recipes. For over 30 years she taught adults, particularly women, in the technical aspects of radio broadcasting and film production, or how to get out there and just do it. She's also been a social worker, a consulting psychologist, stage actor and barmaid. Susanna is a proud descendant of 19th century convicts, republicans and revolutionaries and still wants to be a time-traveller.
