About the tour

Guernsey was heavily defended against the French during the Napoleonic wars, we start this tour with stunning views from a Napoleonic watch house, high above the west coast. A wander through the pine trees before a stroll along the shore line of the beautiful Cobo Bay. See the coast of mirages, named by Victor Hugo while he was here as a political exile and see if you can find the baboon and the camel. The sunsets are beautiful on this west coast so sometimes I will time the walk so that we can watch the setting sun. A chance to see another very different coastline from ones I've shown you on other tours.

Meet Gill

Born and bred in Guernsey, after a career in hospitality I became fascinated by our long and colourful history. Becoming a tour guide was a natural step and I enjoy showing locals and visitors around the island and the smaller Channel Islands near by on foot or in transport.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Guernsey with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Guernsey. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

As usual, Gill is a fantastic guide. Loved this new tour. She walked down a steep forested hill, up and back an incredibly scenic beach, then up another hill to the end of a point to give us views of the spectacular sunset over the rocks, all while imparting fascinating information about the island.
