The tour will show the Old Neighborhood of Recife, where the city began, and the many historic landmarks and unique manifestations that make Recife a singular place. In the surroundings we will be able to visit many spots that help to tell the history of one of the oldest cities in the American continent. The virtual tourist will be introduced to giants, poets and new tunes and flavors. The experience starts at Landmark Zero Square & Artcraft Center. Then continues at the Good Jesus Street (elected by the magazine Architecture Digest as one of the most beautiful streets in the world); in there also live the Giant Puppets, at the Giant Puppets Embassy a local Carnaval tradition and right next to it there is the building of the Synagogue Kahal Zur Israel, the oldest Synagogue of Americas. To finish the tour there will be a visit to the Arsenal Square and the Pernambuco Embassy a perfect spot to get in touch with the State's Popular Culture and its Carnaval traditions."
I'm a professional tour guide in the State of Pernambuco and I live in Recife, the Capital of the State. I have my CADASTUR (the registration at the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil) for 8 years now. I speak fluently English and Portuguese and lived all my life in the region - this makes me your perfect companion for visiting Recife, Olinda and all the wonderful places there are in Pernambuco. I also guided groups of tourists as a Tour Conductor to other States and cities in Brazil, having some knowledge of João Pessoa/PB, Campina Grande/PB, Maceió/AL, Fortaleza/CE, São Paulo/SP, Belo Horizonte/MG (including Inhotim Institute), always along with local tour guides to provide proper assistance. I have a wide knowledge of Recife, Olinda and the many cultural options to visit in these historical cities. In addition, I have guided many tourists to the wonderful and paradisiac beaches along the Pernambuco State coast, such as Calhetas, Porto de Galinhas, Carneiros, Tamandaré, Itamaracá, just to name a few options. I also love introducing the visitors in the delicious and exotic local cuisine. Seafood, local cheeses, the famous "sun meat" with bottled butter, tropical fruits and marvelous desserts. I'll tell you more when we meet here.

Recife is colorful and surprisingly modern, with beautiful old architecture on the square and new stylized structures as well. We spent quite awhile at the Pernambuco arts and craft market, a building that was formerly a prison. There are crafts made by locals from small souvenirs to high art and everything in between. The pieces are not what you will find just anywhere, and beautifully displayed. We traveled what is now Bon Jesu, but was known as Jews Street. There we saw the first Jewish Synagogue of the New World dating back to 1620--now a museum. It was a pleasant tour with a very capable guide. Thank you, Sergio!

Welcome to HeyGo! Great first tour! Sergio was very personable, friendly and deeply passionate about this city. I think that maybe the title confused viewers as they were expecting to see more streets/buildings vs indoor shops. However, when you read the description it does say exactly what the tour is about. So maybe a change of title like 'art and culture' in Recife could have set the expectations better. Personally, what I saw was very interesting. I look forward to exploring more around Recife!
