The original name of Tunnel Mountain was Sleeping Buffalo Moutain which it apparently looks like when viewed from certain directions. Its current name was given in 1882 when a proposed route for the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway) was to be blasted through. When an alternate route costing much less money was put around the mountain, they kept the name Tunnel Mountain leaving it with no tunnel. Although it is the smallest mountain in Banff, Tunnel Mountain offers spectacular views of the valley and panoramas over the town of Banff. Situated in the middle of the Bow Valley, join me on this amazing and significant mountain and learn why it is so important.
Pamela has always loved the outdoors, and is fascinated by all aspects of the natural world. She worked at The University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and went on many field trips, which enhanced her knowledge of birds, animals, insects, frogs, geology, plants and trees. If not outdoors, her nose was always in a book, learning more about the world and it's fascinating places, animals and people. Since moving to Canada, Pamela immersed herself in this totally different environment. She loves to share this knowledge with other people to help them appreciate and understand what they see.
