About the tour

Step back in time for a moment. Take a steam train on its original mountain track in the magnificent Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne. Setting out from the township of Belgrave, Puffing Billy passes the southern reaches of the beautiful Sherbrooke Forest noted for its native 'Mountain Ash' trees, a form of eucalypt and the tallest flowering plant in the world. With lush fern gullies brushing past, towering trees and eucalyptus leaves (almost) close enough to touch, a trip on Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air.

Susanna's tours are always unusual so much fun - like we are going on a school field trip. Seeing the steam train was a treat.

Unfortunately due to it being a train moving sideways most of the scenery was blurry on way past. The small station we stopped at was lovely and susanna tried hard to engage with staff to find out historical info about the trains and the station for us. Disappointed though that the tour started already sat on the train so we didn't get to see the train on the platform.

Lovely event, happy memories of several trips on PB, also the film-clip of the Seekers riding the train!
