About the tour

Considered the main showcase of baroque art in Rio de Janeiro, the Church of the Third Order of São Francisco da Penitência is located in the city center. The church began to be built by the Franciscans in the second half of the 17th century and was completed only in 1748. Its interior is composed of exuberant golden decoration and is a unique jewel! The church currently functions as a Museum of Sacred Art.

Interesting and plenty of new info. to digest. Some overwhelmingly grand gilt and silver, and frescos too. All well worth seeing. Thank you Tatiana and Heygo.
