Designed by architect Aníbal González as the centerpiece for Seville's 1929 Ibero-American exhibition, the Plaza de España is not only one of the most magnificent buildings in Spain, it is also an homage to its history and culture. It perfectly marries classical Renaissance and Arabic Andalusian tradition, embodying centuries of art and architecture in a harmonious ensemble. Join your local guide Nicolás as he explains the subtle arrangement of elements that makes this building a masterpiece of Spanish 20th century architecture. We will then move on to the María Luisa Park, the green heart of Seville, where you will find out about the captivating and tragic story of the Montpensier family, descendants of both French and Spanish royalty who made Seville their home after the 1848 revolution. Book now and don't miss this trip into the beauty and history of Spain!
In Seville was he born, a pleasant city, Famous for oranges and women—he Who has not seen it will be much to pity, So says the proverb—and I quite agree Well pity no more, for Nicolas is here to show the wonders of Seville. Like Byron’s Don Juan, he was born and raised by the mighty Guadalquivir, under the shadow of the Giralda. A life-long lover of old books and obscure maps, he traveled the world from Lisbon to Philippines in his younger years, studying the history of the Spanish empire in the Pacific Ocean. He then came back home to sunny Seville and took up the ancient art of story-telling, entertaining travelers from all around the world with tales about poet-kings and honey thieves, orange trees and Manila shawls, lost libraries and wayward nuns. Join him as he guides you through the narrow streets of Seville’s Old Quarter and discover the light and music of this unforgettable city!
