About the tour

In this meeting, I want to take you to the unpleasant parts of Jerusalem. From the Neighborhood of Gilo, I will show you the City of Bethlehem, the security barrier between Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, the highway between Jerusalem and settlements in the West Bank and talk about the modern history of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the Israeli ongoing public discourse about the future of the West Bank. After that, I will take you with my car(!!!) to Rachel's Tomb (yes, biblical Rachel, the wife of Jacob) where you can see the massive wall that was built since the 2nd Intifada. I can't promise you'll be inspired, but it will for sure be an interesting tour. Disclaimer: The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is extremely complicated, detailed, and nuanced and clearly raises a lot of emotions too. The purpose of the tour is to expose our virtual travelers to modern realities from the Israeli standpoint. The ability to create a real discussion in this medium is very limited, also note that in parts of the tour the guide will be driving and won't be able to read the chat. If you decide to take the tour, please be respectful of other participants and the guide. *This is not exactly a tour, more of a meeting about geopolitics, it does take place outdoors. *We can't enter the Tomb of Rachel due to the low signal. * let's hope the traffic won't be heavy.

This tour really highlighted one of the great things about Itamar’s tours- that he brings a balanced approach to all religions and nationalities during his tours, giving those who are only familiar with the Palestinian narrative an insight into Israeli lives and perspectives, and at the same time giving Israelis insight into the Palestinian narrative. Many thanks and kudos to you, Itamar.

Itamar provided an extremely valuable tour at the security border between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, describing the current and historical political situation between Israelis and Palestinians. He discussed peace accords and their unraveling. I was especially inspired that Itamar is working on providing a joint tour with a Palestinian guide to provide us all more information from both perspectives. This was an extremely valuable tour/talk and I hope Itamar continues to offer it. Thank you.
