About the tour

On a guided walk through Coventry, your tour guide gives to you: Three contrasting cathedrals, Two inaccurate elephants, And a naked lady riding on a horse. And much more besides! On this tour we discover the heart of this ancient but often overlooked English city. From religious centre to medieval powerhouse to the home of the British motor industry, Coventry's history is long, varied and at times surprising. We will touch on all of those themes, including how the city recovered from the devastation of World War 2 to become a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Put aside everything you thought you knew about Coventry and look beneath the modern surface on this fascinating walk through the historic centre of the city.

Meet Ian

Ian

Hello and thanks for visiting. I’m Ian, a professionally qualified guide. I hold the Blue Badge, which is the UK’s highest tour guiding qualification and have many years’ experience guiding in both English and German. My passion is sharing places and stories with people from around the world, and helping them discover more about this country and particularly the Midlands, where I have lived for almost all my life. I have a friendly and informal style and always aim to bring history to life with anecdotes about people and events rather than just dry facts. I love the sense of community with Heygo and enjoy seeing the same people joining multiple tours. On all of my tours you can expect information, humour and friendly conversation. I want you to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience as you take a walk with your new friend in England. Wherever in the world you are from, I look forward to giving you the warmest of British welcomes.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Coventry with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Coventry. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

I was a little late joining the tour, but really enjoyed the walk around Coventry. I knew that it had been heavily bombed during WWII so was pleased to see how it has been reconstructed. A very interesting tour Ian.
