Centuries ago this charming hilltop town boasted 72 towers, celebrating the wealth and the power of the different merchant and moneylender families. Conspicuous consumption in the middle ages was all about building the tallest and most impressive tower, something modern Italians do now with sport cars! During this virtual walk I will take you to discover how the town is today, with its 14 remaining towers. The medieval city walls are still completely visible, we will head up into the town, stopping at the most interesting points along the way and learning about the history. We will certainly stop at Torre Cugnanesi and the three main squares, the first one named after the cistern at its center, the second where City Hall and Duomo face each other across the little market square, called Piazza delle Erbe. The Duomo in San Gimignano is one of the few churches in Italy that is completely frescoed. Franco Zeffirelli, famous Italian movie director, filmed Tea with Mussolini at the end of the 90s in this church. We won't leave San Gimignano without tasting the best gelato in Tuscany, squeezinh into the tiny shop.
Born and bred in Tuscany, like the majority of the locals she is very blunt! After working in tourism for several years she found her true vocation in being a tour guide, she often says "it's the only job that I could do for 18 years or more" She is very energetic and curious, loves meeting and interacting with different people as well as travelling the world. She has a very strong voice as she sang during her high school years and that's when the passion for opera started. Still there is something she can't resist too ... sweets and particularly gelato, something she would enjoy with her guests after a tour!
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to San Gimignano with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

It was like an evening gentle stroll with a friend through the walled town. Gentle and informative. The night glow showed details (on walls) that can be missed in the day time.

This is an incredible city, dating back to medieval times. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the city features architecture dating back centuries, with towers towering over the travertine streets below. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany. This was once a rich merchant town, located on a major trade route, and at one time boasted 70 towers. The taller the tower, the more important the merchant! Very enjoyable. Eli did a great job explaining the importance of San Gimignano and its citizens. Definitely worth the visit!

Enjoyed nighttime tour. Would have been nice to incorporate a little more of the live music in the tour, but overall enjoyable & relaxing evening stroll. Appreciate Eli doing the walking for me.

I felt as if I was there. I’d been many years ago and the tour made me long to go again. It was so atmospheric.
