About the tour

Windmills and clogs are both about as Dutch as you can get. Join Mark at the lovely vintage Dutch village of Zaanse Schans with its wooden Dutch houses from the 1600s and 1700s. There, you get to see a clog being made in front of your eyes, it's pretty amazing actually. You also get to learn a bit about clogs - how, why, where and ask the clog maker a few questions. The tour also includes great views of the windmills as well as a clear explanation, with easy-to-follow diagrams, of how windmills work. The tour will most likely include a visit inside one of the 5 majestic windmills that dot the river Zaan.

Mark - That Dam Guide

Mark has been sharing places and stories about Amsterdam, his adopted home, for 10 years now and he is still smitten by the place! He absolutely loves distilling chunks of history into bite-sized bits of fun. The vibrancy of the city takes his breath away, and he loves finding odd little details to share. Live-streaming tours are an exciting adventure as it is possible to open places and areas that are not accessible on in-person tours!

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Amsterdam with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 60 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Amsterdam. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

I loved the variety in this tour, beautiful views of the Dutch countryside, the inner workings of a windmill, and a fascinating clog demonstration! I had no idea about the variety of clogs, and loved the extra 'window shopping' at the end! As always, Mark's info and delivery were right on point! A great combo of knowledge, fun facts and humour!
