About the tour

The island of Palaces was the nickname of the Saint Louis island located just behind the Cité island and Notre Dame cathedral. Urbanized during the 1600’s the island contains so many palaces that it has become nowadays one of the most expensive part of Paris to live but also one of the most beautiful along the Seine river. With only 4000 inhabitants, it is like a village and with its beautiful aristocratic private mansions one of the most sought after location in Paris. From the island, we’ll join the right bank and will discover the Bastille Square where the Revolution started on July 14th, 1789. Your guide will tell you what provoked the Revolution and what happened during this fascinating period that changed France for ever.

It's an understatement to say Florent knows Paris. Born in this wonderful city, Florent says he confidently knows every nook and cranny. Having completed over 2000 tours, we believe him. He's a self-declared history, art, and archaeology fan. What he loves most is sharing the best parts (and secrets) of Paris with you! “In French, if you add two letters to Paris, it becomes Paradis (Paradise in English)” he laughs. And paradise, it truly is. Be it exploring Paris' gastronomical delights or catching an auction, walking along the River Seine (which Florent gallantly swam), exploring spots where Hemingway lived or its sprawling gardens, Florent takes you on an exciting tour through his favorite city. “I love sharing my discoveries, explaining the boisterous history of Paris and showing places that are very hard to find otherwise, and of course getting to know new people every day!” Florent says.

I had no idea the "other" island, Ile de Saint-Louis, has so much history to it. Definitely on my list for the next trip to Paris. La Bastille is quite interesting, too, have been to the square but did not see the dots outlining the former fortress. I also enjoy when tour guides show the pictures of what the area used to look like a few centuries back. Looking forward to the tour of the Versailles gardens.

Flo was the first guide I met on this platform and he set a standard of excellence. First and foremost, Florent is professional on all levels. He is always prompt! He clearly loves his city and his work, clearly delivering so much information in such a short time. You may already love Paris, but seeing it through his eyes and life experiences will definitely give you a much richer appreciation as he walks around pointing out each interesting detail. Guides like Flo are one of life´s best treasures!
