About the tour

The town of Segovia is a feast for your eyes. No matter where you go there are always renaissance palaces, romanesque churches, medieval constructions, the castle and the iconic, impressive and unique Roman Aqueduct. Almost two thousand years old and still standing elegant and breathtaking, stone over stone with no mortar or concrete. A masterpiece of civil roman Engineering! In this tour by night we will start where the Aqueduct comes from the ground as a water channel and we will walk by it until we see the beginning of the first row of arcades and continue until the Azoguejo square where the double row of arches reach almost 90 feet high. We will finish in a lookout with fantastic views of the Aqueduct and the town. Get your walking shoes on and join me to travel back in time through the mistery of the night!

Another beautiful and relaxing tour from the kind and patient Jesús, who wears his knowledge lightly. I had already done this one during the day, and it's essentially the same tour, but well worth doing again at night, as the atmosphere is very different, and it's all beautifully and tastefully lit. Even for someone who's joined him before, Jesús manages to make the tour sort of suspenseful, because we start from the deceptively modest beginnings of the aqueduct, where it's just an underground channel marked by some posts, on to the babiest arches, and so on, and so on, until we eventually reach its full double-tiered splendour! It's a marvel that the Romans did it, it's a marvel that it's still there today for us to enjoy, and it's a pleasure to do so in the company of such a gracious guide. Recommended!

Jesus was an excellent guide giving us lots of detail about the Segovia Aqueduct along with many opportunities for postcards. My first tour with him but expect to take others.
