About the tour

Explore another of the beautifully preserved places that make the Cotswolds such a well loved and popular destination. Stow On The Wold is a hilltop market town with a character all its own. Built at the meeting point of several important routes and laid out around a large market square, it has always been one of the region's major centres of trade. Characterised by its many narrow alleys between the centuries old golden stone buildings, Stow is a fascinating place to stroll around with exciting new discoveries awaiting round every corner and through every archway. On our tour we will discover more about the historic markets here and devastating battles in the English Civil War, see ancient hostelries, spend some quiet moments in the peaceful churchyard and do some window shopping in the many independent businesses that draw people here from far and wide to buy local crafts, produce and antiques. Whether you are new to the Cotswolds or have already visited other locations, you will definitely not regret spending time in Stow!

Meet Ian

Ian

Hello and thanks for visiting. I’m Ian, a professionally qualified guide. I hold the Blue Badge, which is the UK’s highest tour guiding qualification and have many years’ experience guiding in both English and German. My passion is sharing places and stories with people from around the world, and helping them discover more about this country and particularly the Midlands, where I have lived for almost all my life. I have a friendly and informal style and always aim to bring history to life with anecdotes about people and events rather than just dry facts. I love the sense of community with Heygo and enjoy seeing the same people joining multiple tours. On all of my tours you can expect information, humour and friendly conversation. I want you to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience as you take a walk with your new friend in England. Wherever in the world you are from, I look forward to giving you the warmest of British welcomes.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Cotswolds with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Cotswolds. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

Seemed to see things I'd missed second time round. Thank you Ian!

For me the best Heygo experience is to take a tour somewhere I have never heard of before and see whether my first impression will make me want to travel to said city. Before Ian's tour I had no idea that Stow existed. Now I not just want to travel to Stow but - if time permits - I'd travel the area around Stow as well. Very well done Ian!
