About the tour

We will have a walk in the French Quarter, Hanoi City. The French colonial period was the period when Vietnam was under the yoke of French colonial rule from 1858 to 1945. The French monopolized all economic - political - military power in Vietnam. However, the French also left Vietnam with many impressive architectural works The city with the most French architectural impressions is Hanoi. We call this place is the French Quarter that I show you on my tour.

Great to get a perspective of Hanoi's French Quarter vs. the Old Quarter especially for a tourist deciding which neighborhoods to stay. The scooter drive into the district was very scenic with wide streets and tree lined sidewalks, a nice quiet respite from other more crowded areas. Again, thanks for showing more aspects of Hanoi. It is a really nice "pre-tour" touring.

Hoang is an extremely personable, enthusiastic guide whose efforts to meet the needs of each attendee is exceptional. He shared personal insight, historical data and architectural details in equal parts. As well, when asked questions of a more political nature as well as familial, he was sincere in his limitations with regard to discussing these, while still sharing as much as he was able. Discreet, warm, humourous and interested in learning/understanding perspectives foreign to him, he was a delight to follow for a good 1.5 to 2 hours. I'd earnestly search him out as a guide in the future.
