Melbourne’s Smith Street, a lively strip famous for its hip restaurants, wine bars, vintage stores and live music scene, has been named "the Coolest Street in the World" in global ranking. Entertainment and culture site, Time Out, surveyed cities around the world to come up with a list of 30 of the world’s coolest streets and Smith Street won the top prize. In Smith Street you find a mixture of rowdy footie pubs to refined wine bars, vinyl record stores, Vietnamese bakeries, gay venues, a spice emporium and an award winning kebab shop. The suburb of Collingwood has a long, proud and chequered history of giving the middle finger to authority. Come along to hear about the sordid side of Smith Street, check out the eclectic eateries and live music venues, experience the "coolest street in the world".
Susanna is an avid reader of historical detective novels, a radio producer, civil celebrant, over-worked grandmother and, for fun, she reconstructs Ancient Roman recipes. For over 30 years she taught adults, particularly women, in the technical aspects of radio broadcasting and film production, or how to get out there and just do it. She's also been a social worker, a consulting psychologist, stage actor and barmaid. Susanna is a proud descendant of 19th century convicts, republicans and revolutionaries and still wants to be a time-traveller.

An interesting walk along Smith Street with Susanna and Billy T. Great to see a lot of people out enjoying themselves on such a cold night. Well done to you both for braving the chill! These are the types of tours that encourage tourists to visit some of the great spots in Melbourne.

I loved hearing the history of Smith St. I never knew it was the first street out of the city. Collingwood has a very rich history.
