About the tour

Latest since the movie with Tom Hanks the world knows about the Bridge of Spies which connected Postdam in Eastern Germany with West Berlin. Away from the curious eye of normal citizens it was a military checkpoint which became the focus of world attention when in 1962 Francis Gary Powers walked over it and back into freedom after having been shot down over the Sovjet Union in his U2 bomber. We will walk the same way he went, Arja will show you old pictures from back in the days and tell you the whole story whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery surrounding what is officially known as Glienicker Bridge - something the movie never showed properly. From the bridge we will gaze over to Babelsberg Palace and a very special church after saying hello to the golden lions of Glienicke Palace all of which no one could see in the movie because nearly all the scenes here were filmed by night.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Berlin with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.

The tour will last about 30 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Berlin. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide’s hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
