About the tour

Origami is the art of paper folding. It's a way of folding a single sheet of square paper into a sculpture without cutting, gluing, taping, or even marking it. In Japan, origami is taught at home and in school. Many Japanese people have fond memories of their first origami experiences in kindergarten where they learned to create paper animals with friends. On this tour, Eriko will share with you the culture of Japanese paper folding as well as a variety of origami models including flowers, boxes, and jumping frogs (it may be different each time!). Origami is not only fun but enhances your creativity. It's also been proven to possess therapeutic advantages! You can be anywhere in the world, all you need is a sheet of paper. You can fold a paper along with Eriko or just enjoy watching how a piece of paper transforms into a sculpture. Let's explore the joy of origami together.

Meet Eriko Shiratori

Eriko Shiratori

Eriko has been sharing her love of Japanese culture with people around the globe since 2017. In her words, Japan is beautiful, unique, and weird all at the same time! She's been lucky to have traveled to dozens of amazing countries and she got a chance to live overseas, in Australia and Canada, for a couple of years. Being exposed to other cultures has given her a new lens to look at her hometown and its traditions. Her great-grandfather was a kimono craftsman in Tokyo, and today she is honoured to wear the kimonos that were passed down through generations. She is looking forward to exploring Japan and sharing a smile with you!

I love origami sessions with Eriko! I think this is my 3rd time attending and it's been so fun every time. She makes everything so cute and I'm able to follow her with ease. If you love crafts or making things for other people, I definitely recommend!

Thank you for the links. I could slow the speed for comfort to complete the origami nicely to use again. Well you did well, but i watched you more than doing this one on livestream. I have gift ribbons to make more.

Very interesting tour. It's made me want to go out and buy origami paper and try it myself. It looks like it would be meditative to do. Thank you again Eriko for an interesting and informative tour.
