The Templar Knights were invited into the nearly born kingdom of Portugal by the mother of our first king. What was their role in the conquest of territories from the moors? Why was Tomar chosen for the headquarters of this military and religious order? All this and much more while we explore the walls of the castle and learn about the techniques of defense used back then. Officially extinct in 1312, the order actually underwent several changes in Portugal and survived under a different designation: Order of the Knights of Christ. What happened to the Castle at this point? Come find out!
Born and raised in Lisbon, I have very fond memories of my childhood and adult life here. I became a national licensed guide at the age of 22, after a degree in Tourist Guiding. I have had the chance to meet wonderful people from all over the world, and I was lucky to be able to travel abroad several times. I also worked as a tour manager mostly in Europe, and decided to settle down in my home city in 2017, becoming a full time local guide in Lisbon and surroundings, so I could learn even more about it and share it with you! I consider myself a storyteller that likes to weave the connections between history, people, heritage, nature and food. I am looking forward to welcoming here, whether virtually or in person! If you are coming to Lisbon soon, contact me for information on my private walking and minivan tours. Cheers!
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Tomar with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Tomar. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
