About the tour

Back in the 6th to 9th century, the area of Prambanan-Plaosan-Kalasan, in the southern part of central Java, was the settlement of Hindu and Buddhist dynasties that rule the area. They built lots of temples, made of andesite - volcano stones, to worship their Gods and meditation places and also as the monasteries. In this 45 minutes tour, we will visit two of them: Sari Temple and Plaosan Temple, and learn about their unique ornaments and symbols as well as their history. Please be informed, this tour involves a 15-minutes car journey as we move from Sari Temple to Plaosan Temple.

Meet Gagat

Gagat loves Indonesian culture and has a great passion of showing his beautiful people and country. He will be more than happy to share some secrets of the places of interest one might never hear before, making your trip as interesting as possible. Having studied law and great attention to the current issues, he enjoys discussion with various topics over coffee in the afternoon, while also having a great passion in trains and planes. Gagat enjoys listening to almost all music genres and sometimes trying to sing at almost the right tune... no worries, he will only be guiding and not singing :)"

What an interesting tour "Tales of two Temples" in those seldom-visited sites near Yogyakarta! Buddhist Sari and Plaosan temples, although still in need of restoration, showed us their ancient splendor and revealed their history related to religion and love. Great job, GagaT

Easy to understand and responds to comments and questions. Gives lots of information and explanations on the temples and gives lots of opportunities for postcards.
