About the tour

Brazilian “European” and Colonization history started in Bahia, exactly on the 22nd of April of 1500 in the South of Bahia (“Costa do Descobrimento). According to the “oficial Brazilian History” books, Pedro Alvares Cabral, a Portuguese nobleman and navigator, got “lost” from the original itinerary/destination (City of Calicut in the coast of India) and ended up arriving in South America. That journey was biggest Portuguese investment to navigate to India, but he ended up stopping in a tropical beach in the Easter Week ... what happened afterwards? Book the tour and you will find out!! I will offer this tour every time that is possible to have a beautiful view of our Sunset in Salvador, Bahia. My hometown is very well know for having one of the most beautiful sunsets in Brazil - basically you can see it form anywhere in the city shore line. This tour is perfect if: 1. You do not know a lot about Brazil and would love to have a view of our history and culture 2. Virtual Travellers that love to take pictures/post cards and we will have a talk about some curiosities about Brazilian Colonization and Modern History. 3. Sunset lovers and want to relax with a nice atmosphere in Bahia! Each day, we will talk abut a different topic of Brazilian History and Culture. The first day that I decided to offer this tour is on April 22nd 2021, exactly the date to remember 521 years of “Brazilian History”... Come and let’s see Bahia in Brazil, with a local Afro-Asian-Brazilian tour guide!!!

Meet your local guide

Sayuri Koshima

"I would like that you do not think of me as Sayuri, the tour guide, but a new friend that you will contact on line and maybe in a near future in person in Bahia, Brazil. I love showing the very local and give you the tips that just a soteropolitana (local from Salvador) is able to share with you. Besides working as a tour guide, I have a Degree of Law (practiced for more than 10 years) and I graduated from Literature and Language School, but most of all I am an independent traveller and I know what to expect from a local tour guide. I love sharing and I have worked as volunteer in different ways, host people in my house (workaway, couchsurfing), so expect future tours/experiences with small communities in Bahia and also Afro Heritage - Salvador is the most Afrikan city in Brazil." Packing her personality and the colorful history of Bahia all into an exciting tour can only mean lots of fun and entertainment, plus local ""baianese"" hospitality. Join her as she shares her love of Bahia and her beautiful smile with you! Sayuri has been guiding since 2011 and offered virtual tours since June 2020."
