About the tour

World famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford is a beautifully preserved medieval market town. This tour shows off the very best of the town, which has some of the finest timber-framed building around, including the houses where Shakespeare lived and died. You will learn more about England's most famous writer, of course, but you will also discover that there is much more to Stratford than Shakespeare.

Meet Ian

Hello and thanks for visiting. I’m Ian, a professionally qualified guide. I hold the Blue Badge, which is the UK’s highest tour guiding qualification and have many years’ experience guiding in both English and German. My passion is sharing places and stories with people from around the world, and helping them discover more about this country and particularly the Midlands, where I have lived for almost all my life. I have a friendly and informal style and always aim to bring history to life with anecdotes about people and events rather than just dry facts. I love the sense of community with Heygo and enjoy seeing the same people joining multiple tours. On all of my tours you can expect information, humour and friendly conversation. I want you to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience as you take a walk with your new friend in England. Wherever in the world you are from, I look forward to giving you the warmest of British welcomes.

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

As always with Ian the tour was informative and enjoyable. We have recently visited Stratford, but Ian showed us places we didn't get to see when we were there
