About the tour

In this episode, Alexander will take you for a walk along the all-mighty Yarra River, also known as Birrarung Marr to the indigenous Wurundjeri people. Alexander will share some stories about the Yarra River, we will discuss its spiritual significance to the indigenous people and Alexander will be telling some stories taken from Aboriginal folklore and more! Have your cuppa tea ready because you will not want to get up!

Meet Alexander

Alexander wants to live in a world filled with appreciation for other cultures, free travel and guacamole as a global currency (we’re allowed to dream right?!). “Storytelling has always been a passion of mine. Whether it’s in the form of acting, writing or showing people around my captivating city. It feels great to express my passions in so many different ways” Alex says, while sipping on a decaf soy latte (a very common beverage in Melbourne, also known as Australia's coffee capital). Alexander believes that it would be a waste and disservice to his fellow humans to not show them around his backyard (well, not his actual backyard, but you get the picture). He’s dedicated to sharing his city’s beauty and history, and once and for all proving to people that kangaroos don’t just bounce around everywhere. Alexander has been running tours for the last 4 years, with his most popular tour being Melbourne’s Hidden Penguins (there you go, saved you a trip to Antarctica!). When he is not touring, Alexander works as an actor, filmmaker and blog writer.

Another fantastic and informative tour by Alex - they just keep getting better and better! We learnt so much about the Maori nations and culture - with more to come in subsequent tours. As well as seeing super scenery along the Yarra river and being able to take lovely postcards. All so very interesting, and Alex has a way of piquing ones interest to make you want to read more into whatever subject he is discussing (like Capt Cook the other day!). We even finished up with Waltzing Matilda - which I'm now googling to find its history!

What a beautiful morning to be strolling along the Yarra , listening to Alex and learning the history of this area, and hearing all his stories. I took some lovely postcards. Alex has an easy listening voice and is a terrific tour guide. So look forward to more of his tours.

Great tour of the Yarra River. Loved the story attached to it. Sadly I had to leave early, but I so enjoyed the sculptures and the view was gorgeous! Makes me want to visit Melbourne! As always, Alex is a very personable and charming tour guide who makes the tour a fun place to be on. Thank you for planning this for us. I look forward to you future tours!

Really like Alexander's tour giving us information about the indigenous people and the stories relating to them. It was extremely interesting, informative, and entertaining. Alexander was very knowledgeable and gave great detail about the stories. Want more.
