About the tour

A former aristocratic area, Saint Germain des Prés offers beautifully preserved streets filled with cafés such as Café de Flore and les Deux Magots where philosophers like Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir would spend days, but also studios for the artists such as Picasso and Delacroix! The place to be after WW2, Saint Germain des Prés was the heart of the literary life and of the jazz scene of Paris. We will also see the oldest café of Paris where revolutionary members but also Benjamin Franklin would go and explore the former territory of the oldest abbey of Paris: Saint Germain des Prés!

Meet Florent

It's an understatement to say Florent knows Paris. Born in this wonderful city, Florent says he confidently knows every nook and cranny. Having completed over 2000 tours, we believe him. He's a self-declared history, art, and archaeology fan. What he loves most is sharing the best parts (and secrets) of Paris with you! “In French, if you add two letters to Paris, it becomes Paradis (Paradise in English)” he laughs. And paradise, it truly is. Be it exploring Paris' gastronomical delights or catching an auction, walking along the River Seine (which Florent gallantly swam), exploring spots where Hemingway lived or its sprawling gardens, Florent takes you on an exciting tour through his favorite city. “I love sharing my discoveries, explaining the boisterous history of Paris and showing places that are very hard to find otherwise, and of course getting to know new people every day!” Florent says.

There is no way this tour could have been conducted in this weather. It would not have been pleasurable for Florent or for the participants. Florent is a real trooper. I have been on tours with him before when he got caught in the rain, and he trudges on. This, however, would have been too much to ask. He was already drenched!

It was an enjoyable and educational tour with Florent. I felt like I was actually in Montmarte and not just virtually. He also responds to queries in the chat which is great!
