About the tour

Since 1931, Sonobudoyo Museum was built to preserve the beauty of culture and history of Javanese and Balinese societies. As the collection of this Museum is quite vast, the tour will be divided in to two series. In this part, we will learn about the prehistory and the classical era of people of Java and their way of life. Join this tour early, as you will listen to a gentlemen playing a musical instrument (called gender), while waiting for the tour to start. Then we walk along their collections in their Introduction room then off to Prehistoric collections (showing some stone utensils and more) then end the tour at the classical era collections. Spare your time to join the part-2 of our virtual tour of this museum.

Meet Gagat

Gagat

Gagat loves Indonesian culture and has a great passion of showing his beautiful people and country. He will be more than happy to share some secrets of the places of interest one might never hear before, making your trip as interesting as possible. Having studied law and great attention to the current issues, he enjoys discussion with various topics over coffee in the afternoon, while also having a great passion in trains and planes. Gagat enjoys listening to almost all music genres and sometimes trying to sing at almost the right tune... no worries, he will only be guiding and not singing :)"

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Yogyakarta with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
