About the tour

Join me on a walk around the remains of an extraordinary 5000 year old village built before Stone Henge and the Pyramids. Imagine what it was like for the farmers, hunters and fishermen who lived here, What did the children do? What did they eat? So many questions, can they all be answered? I love the fact that they were not that different from us.

Meet Lorna

Lorna was born in Orkney on the Island of Westray and can trace her family living there as far back as possible. She loves sharing the beauty, history and culture of her islands. Lorna usually speaks in Orcadian dialect which comes from an old Norse language called Norn but don't worry, she will be chanting on tour. Chanting is the Orcadian word for speaking your best English.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Orkney with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 40 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Orkney. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

Lornas Orkney trips always provide some beautiful pictures of ancient civilisations lost in history and often nearly lost to the sea. She has useful insights and promotes the modern Orkney too. Always a pleasure to attend one of these tours.

Lorna was great. She was clear, concise, the camera work was steady and good timing. She communicated well about the Wi-Fi variations. I felt like the site was a kind of special holy place and she had a lot of respect for the site which made a nice atmosphere. She connected well with us and it felt like we were together as a group exploring the place. I look forward to future tours with Lorna
