About the tour

Surrounded by the Carpathians Mountains, not far from the town of Sibiu, we have some very interesting villages, which were first inhabited by shepherds. Nowadays we have there a rural population, keeping the old traditons, although they enjoy all benefits of modern life, like electricity, TV, running water and private cars. So, they keep their old wells, they have milk cows, sheep, poultry, pigs, and horses, they grow vegetables and produce their own fruit, especially apples and plums. They also offer accommodation and dinner to tourists. Sibiel has a unique collection of glass-painted icons, an art which flourished in those parts of Transylvania, which have been traditionally inhabited by Romanians, as we have in this province Hungarian and old German zones as well. But first of all our interest goes to the people there, nice people indeed and we are going to meet some of them. The first tour of Sibiel will be on April 30th, this year Good Friday for the orthodox Romanians, who celebrate Easter on May 2nd. So traditional preparations for Eastern will also be shown. Please do not miss this tour!

Meet Mihai

Mihai

I feel so lucky to be able to be part of Heygo platform, especially during these times. It has been a great opportunity to do again what I love most, which is guiding, and interact with great people from all over the world. I have always been very much attracted by all the WW1 & WW2 documentaries on History Channel and still am nowadays. Having the opportunity to share the history, the still living traditions and the beauty of my country to travelers from all over the world is like a dream come true.

I enjoyed this tour with Mike. Interesting to see the church and museum, and local farm (tho sad to see the animals' living conditions). Fascinating way of colouring the eggs!
