About the tour

This live-stream walking tour is a continuation of our exploration of Odessa, the “Pearl of the Black Sea”. We’ll stroll from beautiful Catherine square to the iconic National Opera and Ballet Theater to the Greek-style City Hall, uncovering the secrets of the city’s landmarks. We’ll finish at “the Duke”, one of the city’s symbols and a “must-visit” spot among both the city locals and travelers. Why does the Pushkin statue stand with its back to the City Hall? What is the connection between Charles Darwin and Odessa’s historic quarter? What is the cannon from the British naval ship Tiger doing on a city’s central square? We’ll find out the answers to these questions and many more during an interactive quiz. Odessa boasts stunning architecture and we’ll soak it in during our stroll. An Odessa local, Olga will provide insights into the local lifestyle and traditions and put faces and events to the landmarks. Join her to explore the “Pearl of the Black Sea”.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Odessa. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.

Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.

Olga's depth and range of knowledge was astonishing. She couldn't have anticipated all the questions she got (i.e., is Odessa University still an important college?) but she answered each and every one fully and cheerfully, barely taking a breath before continuing on with the tour, maintaining her cool and her stream of lively information even when loud music blaring from a party bus or from street musicians competed with her. I loved the both the tour of Odessa and the tour guide!
