About the tour

This live-stream walking tour is a continuation of our exploration of Odessa, the “Pearl of the Black Sea”. We’ll stroll from beautiful Catherine square to the iconic National Opera and Ballet Theater to the Greek-style City Hall, uncovering the secrets of the city’s landmarks. We’ll finish at “the Duke”, one of the city’s symbols and a “must-visit” spot among both the city locals and travelers. Why does the Pushkin statue stand with its back to the City Hall? What is the connection between Charles Darwin and Odessa’s historic quarter? What is the cannon from the British naval ship Tiger doing on a city’s central square? We’ll find out the answers to these questions and many more during an interactive quiz. Odessa boasts stunning architecture and we’ll soak it in during our stroll. An Odessa local, Olga will provide insights into the local lifestyle and traditions and put faces and events to the landmarks. Join her to explore the “Pearl of the Black Sea”.

Meet OlgaOdessaWalks

OlgaOdessaWalks

Olga's journey to guiding and establishing Odessa Walks started in 1998 when she left her home country and went to California to attend a business school. What made her move across the ocean back then? First off, interest to see the world and desire to explore her career options. And while studies were certainly important, traveling was her real passion. After obtaining an MBA degree she has worked in California, London and Moscow. Finally, in 2011 she made a decision to return to Odessa, her anchor city. Why? To build something of her own, based on what she loves most: meeting people, this amazing city and its rich heritage. As a result, Odessa Walks Ltd. came to live in 2011. Since then she's been managing the business and providing in-person tours. Since the fall of 2020 she's been creating online Odessa experiences.

Olga's tour was very interesting, informative, and fascinating. She certainly knows her history and the background and future of Odessa. She is a beautiful speaker, historian, and exquisite video photographer. Her pace completely captivated me. This is the best tour I have ever seen and ever expect to see. No other guide has as much knowledge of her location as Olga. It is 60 minutes of pure information including answering all questions in detail. Odessa is an interesting place, Olga's tours are even more interesting than that !
