About the tour

Before you book: I am a local tour guide in Bahia Brazil and in the last 10 years work as a tour guide and very close to the ideas of Community Based Tourism, I really believe that as tour guides we can make a huge difference in local areas, with small groups and lots of respect. This “comunidade” is just next to the Old Town/Pelourinho and became very famous for the local flavors (do not miss the tour with local life and street art here - Salvador Part 3), Graffiti Art Work, stunning view of the Bay of All Saints and, in 2020, this area was feature in the Netflix Street Food in Latin America. After that, Dona Suzana became famous all over the world. We will start the tour in the entrance of Comunidade Solar do Unhao. Please be aware that my connection sometimes is not very stable in the comunidade, but it is one of my favorite tours in town and food is one of the TOP cultural aspects in the city of Salvador, Bahia. Brazilians are crazy for a “moqueca baiana”. After Walking a bit in the comunidade, we will visit the house of Donna Suzana and see how you can cook the moqueca in your house - if you do not have palm oil it is possible to do with tomato sauce and olive oil. For a better experience, watch Netflix Street Food Episode in Latin America in Brazil - this will engage you even more during the tour and if you want, come and cook with us!! To support Dona Suzana, part of the tips in this tour will be shared with her. Ingredients: SeaFood (shrimp, fish) or vegetables (it is possible to do a veggie/vegan version of the moqueca) Salt and pepper to taste 1 large onion sliced or diced 1 garlic clove 1 large tomato sliced or diced 1 can or bottle of coconut milk 2 Tbps of dende oil Cilantro to garnish

My work is to make your days incredible in Bahia. I am Asian-Afro-Brazilian, born in Salvador in the 1970's and working as a tour guide since 2011, studied Law in Sao Paulo and Language Studies, but now I am 100% working as a tour guide. As an independent traveler, I understands the needs for a real and safe experience in my hometown. I love Brazil and I am blessed to live and work in Bahia. I try to work with tailor- made tours and make you feel home in Brazil, with the best tourist attractions but at the same time with the local experience. I will be happy to guide you in Portuguese, English or Spanish in Bahia. My tops tours tailor made are: Gastronomy Experience, Afro Heritage, Favela Tour, Reconcavo Baiano (01 hour from Salvador) and By night with PubCrawl

I feel like we didn't see much of Donna Suzana or the dish but just random things. That wasn't what I expected.
