About the tour

Join Sara on a journey through the origins of Rome and its 2000+ year history. Starting at the Palatine hill - the place where according to tradition Romulus built Rome in 753 b.c - we will see the remains of the imperial palaces built by the Roman emperors and then we will walk together in the Roman forum. This was the center of the social political and economic life in ancient Roman times. We will see ancient temples, pagan buildings, pagan basilicas and the remains of the main squares in ancient Rome. Don't miss this spectacular tour with Sara of some of the most important Roman artifacts in the world!

Sara has done this tour too many times. She shoots off facts and statements like a machine gun, like an automaton - “press button A”. She quickly ticks off all the sights with little explanation or context. Sorry to be so negative, rarely do we criticise guides bec ea one has their own style. But Rome is such an iconic city and really important site and sadly Heygo has not managed to find any really interesting or satisfying guides to show it off. We thought we knew Rome really well and still were confused and felt bombarded during this tour. Maybe because it was her last tour for Heygo? Anyway if it was my first time I’d be totally confused and dazed by her commentary. Sorry! While Mickey and Adry are too light weight and only good to demonstrate cooking.

Reply from Heygo
Reply from Sara: Dear Ellie thank you for your time and for watching me! I have done this tour for the last twenty years and every day is a real blast to me. Being a tour guide has been one of the best experience of my entire life. Of course history doesn’t change so I tell you every time the same things. We are so sorry that you didn’t like this tour and we are also sorry if you think that all the guides chosed by Heygo team in Rome are not enough for you, but since now all the tours worked pretty well! I have my license since longtime and the card of a licensed guide done by the Italian government and the Vatican City. It is something very precious that gives me the opportunity to work with tourists! Heygo is a great opportunity for everyone as it’s just for free, it gives travellers the opportunity to switch off if they didn't enjoy the tour. Thank you and see you in Roma! Always with a smile upon your face! Remember! Life is short

I'm going to miss Sara while she is on "vacation". Her tours are so informative. The love Sara has for Rome is apparent in the enthusiasm she brings to each of her tours! I am thankful she will still have a cooking every now & then. Hope she can reschedule the canoli class soon! Thank you Sara for the most enjoyable tours of your city!💟💟💟
