A typical neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Santa Teresa was born in the 18th century and is located on a hill right in the heart of the city. Symbol of the visual arts, the neighborhood has dozens of art studios and the old trams ride through its narrow streets. The Santa Teresa Tram keeps the same pattern ever since its foundation. The route begins in the city center, goes over the Lapa Arches, follows through the slopes in the area and goes by cultural spots and offers amazing views.
Tour Guide, Visual Artist and Traveler. Born in Rio de Janeiro, at the age of nine she moved with her family to Italy, in Rome, where she completed her studies and graduated in Sciences of Tourism in 2011. For three years she traveled and lived in different places around the world such as Nova York, London, Lugano and Barcelona. During her travels, she fell in love with the world of the arts and since then she has acted in different fields, from classical painting on canvas, through ceramics to street art. Back in Brazil in 2013, she graduated as a national and regional tour guide. Tatiane loves to combine her profession with the arts, promoting experience tourism centered on the city's cosmopolitan and artistic life, so in 2016 she created RioArtExperience receptive tourism company specialized in art and experience tours.

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Rio de Janeiro with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 40 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Rio de Janeiro. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide’s hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

I do not like to leave negative or even so-so reviews, but this trip did not work out well. Scheduled for 15 minutes past the hour, the tram arrived 15 minutes earlier. Thus, anyone who signed on at the posted time was late and the trip was short. This is understandable, as it is public transit, after all. My other concern is that it is nearly impossible to get any photos from a fast moving tram. I know that our guide tried her best, but this was a tour where all we could do is photograph the people inside the tram. Everything went by too fast. She did get out of the tram but the scenery was rather limited from the way station. Not her fault, but this trip could use some further fine tuning. Tatiane is a lovely and welcoming tour guide, full of enthusiasm. I will certainly try another of her tours, but will remind myself that any tour from a moving vehicle, even a tuk-tuk, means watch, don't try to photograph. ;)
