About the tour

Reed Flute Cave is one of the must-see sites in Guilin City with magnificent views. It is named so because people believed that the reed by the cave's mouth could be made into flutes. The cave is formed from natural limestone over a period of 180 million years. It officially opened as a tourist attraction in 1962, but in fact, it has been a tourist site for over 1,200 years. This magic cave features an amazing array of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars and stone curtains that form natural images of birds, plants, and animals in fantastic shapes and colors, all glistening in colorful lights. This myriad of colors illuminating and bouncing off the strange shapes of the rock gives the cave an almost mystical feel, as if you are traveling through a fairy-tale world. There are 77 stone inscriptions covering many years of history. One grotto, which is called the Crystal Palace of the Dragon King, can hold up to 1000 people. The length of the Reed Flute Cave is 240 meters. Visitors enter the cave at Bright Light Hill and follow a U-shaped path that eventually leads them to an exit. Please follow your guide to embrace this natural wonder on the earth.

Yvonne handled the difficult task of conducting a cave tour with a handheld camera very well and conveyed her enthusiasm for whet we saw.
