About the tour

The Night Market is back for autumn at Queen Victoria's famous sheds. This Melbourne icon struck down by the pandemic last year, is back buzzing in 2021 and starts off night-time festivities with a celestial theme. The people of Melbourne look forward to a night out in this popular precinct. At the Night Market we'll find street entertainers and artists, local musicians and the intriguing silent disco. Join me on a stroll through the market precinct on the prowl for hidden foodie gems from the line-up of food trucks and stalls. We'll discover mouth-watering favorites like lobster rolls, truffle fries, jerk chicken, traditional paella, popcorn prawns, fresh cannoli, smoky American BBQ and so much more.

Meet Susanna

Susanna is an avid reader of historical detective novels, a radio producer, civil celebrant, over-worked grandmother and, for fun, she reconstructs Ancient Roman recipes. For over 30 years she taught adults, particularly women, in the technical aspects of radio broadcasting and film production, or how to get out there and just do it. She's also been a social worker, a consulting psychologist, stage actor and barmaid. Susanna is a proud descendant of 19th century convicts, republicans and revolutionaries and still wants to be a time-traveller.

Susanna, you would be very good company to stroll through here with in real life, your enthusiasm is contagious! However I think I was expecting to learn a bit about the history of the market and be able to see some of the different foods described and prepared. Perhaps it would be helpful to speak with some stall holders beforehand and get their permission to film while they prepare food so we can learn from them? Just a thought. I did enjoy the wander though, thank you.

Although I live in Melbourne and have been to the Victoria market, I have never been at night. It was a real treat to see the night market. Lots of different foods to see. It was a bit blurry sometimes, but when focused, I was fascinated. Thank you.
