About the tour

Puffins are known as Tammie Norries in Orkney. I love these colourful little birds and on this tour I will stay on one spot on the clifftop on the Island of Westray. These wonderful little characters spend most of their life at sea and return to their breeding colonies every year. I would be delighted if you would like to join me on this puffin watching experience. Please remember that with nature watching you can never be sure what will happen.

Meet Lorna

Lorna was born in Orkney on the Island of Westray and can trace her family living there as far back as possible. She loves sharing the beauty, history and culture of her islands. Lorna usually speaks in Orcadian dialect which comes from an old Norse language called Norn but don't worry, she will be chanting on tour. Chanting is the Orcadian word for speaking your best English.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Orkney with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Orkney. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

Beautiful views. Great to watch the puffins in their natural habitat. Lorna is such a patient guide and it was so enjoyable to sit and watch the puffins landing/flying. The area is so stunning I could have stayed all day.

It was wonderful sharing Lorna's enthusiasm and delight watching for these adorable puffins. Many were shy this tour but Lorna did her very best to give us many postcard opportunities and shared much about the area to us as well. It was a fun and wonderful experience. I am definitely coming back to another of her tours!

Lorna did a great job showing us the puffins, especially considering she has a fear of heights! There weren't many, but the few we saw were very cute and interesting. Lorna's information on them and the area was super. Thank you, Lorna.

An enjoyable trip to another of the Orkney Islands. We got to see a few birds flying in and out, but like the weather it was always going to be hit and miss. still, it was an hour of calm and Lorna was a good host.
