About the tour

Shortly after Manhattan opened Central Park, Brooklyn answered with its’ own jewel known as Prospect Park. Home to Brooklyn’s own museum, botanical gardens and only lake, this land was historically significant as the site of the Battle of Brooklyn, the first battle fought in the Revolutionary War after the U.S. declared it’s independence in 1776. Points of interest will include The Grand Army Plaza, the Italianate mansion known as Litchfield Villa, the Concert Grove sculpture garden, and a secluded Quaker cemetery kept intact since before the park was built in 1867.

Meet Aaron Young

Aaron Young

Aaron's life has been nothing short of an adventure. Originally from Alaska, he crossed the continent to chase his big-city dreams of a career in theatre. "My greatest honor and achievement was appearing on Broadway in the classic musical, Fiddler on the Roof. I’m constantly learning new, interesting things about NYC, but I’m keenest on the historical stories," he chips in. And New York City has popped up with unforgettable memories for Aaron, including singing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on National TV! Aaron's always loved travel and learning about my surroundings, wherever he is. "I’d also describe myself as a people-person, I love a good chat. All that considered, being a tour guide is an ideal job that feels like no work at all! " he laughs. His colleagues have often nicknamed him “Frommer” (of the travel guides) or “cruise director” due to his wanderlust and enthusiasm for sharing travel experiences with others. His favorite memories to date include a 4-month concert tour of Japan with the Tokyo Philharmonic, and a single day on Easter Island while performing on a cruise ship. Aaron is eager to share with you the rich history of Brooklyn, NY where he currently resides, and the magic of Alaska during winter. If you're lucky, you might just catch him singing a show tune on his tours!

Unfortunately, my internet crashed half way through the tour, but, loved every minute Aaron was excellent, and hopefully join another tour - he actually was multi tasking! and looking at the questions we had written at the sametime as doing a tour guide . Id give him 6 stars !

Nice to be out and about in the park. It seemed to come as a surprise the Litchfield Villa was shut today (Sunday). More disappointingly the internet signal was unreliable and kept cutting out throughout the tour.

Thank you for your feedback Jeanette. We’re sorry the tour didn’t go as plan and technical difficulties impacted your experience with us. Although we work hard behind the scene to make sure this doesn’t happen, issues with the signal are sometimes out of our control. We hope you can join us on another tour sometime soon!
