That’s a tall order in just 45 minutes! But the goal here is to tide you over until you can visit in person, right? Place d’Armes has had many functions over the centuries: military square, pumping station, streetcar terminal, and now a gathering place and antechamber to the jewel of Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica. Fran will not only present the monument at its centre and diverse architectural styles surrounding it, she’ll also explain how the square’s layout is certainly intentional with respect to representing a balance between the city’s two dominant cultures: French and English. Join her on this historical journey in romantic Old Montreal. À bientôt!
The two most frequently asked questions Fran, a certified guide, hears on her tours are whether she is a native Montrealer and what her favourite “thing” about her city is. The answer to the first question is “yes”, and the answer to the second is “multiculturalism”, which, in her view, best defines Montreal. Sharing her enthusiasm and bragging about Montreal with visitors are what it’s all about. Although she has a penchant for great food (her mother is French after all!), history and architecture, what she enjoys most about guiding is the interaction with participants on her tours! Her wish is that you come away not so much with a tour or a lecture, but with a memorable experience.

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Montreal with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Montreal. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide’s hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

Great job, Fran. You were calm and informative despite the windy conditions. I left a comment a bit late on chat mentioning that I had lived in Old Montreal and worked at Youville Stables during that time. A wonderful experience for a young 20 year old. 72 now! Do you have other tours of the area? I would love to check out my old digs. Far end of St. Pierre. The caleche rides would pass by my place of interest when that form of touring was permitted. Continued sucess and enjoyment as you explore your favorite city. I agree!! Andrea (Saint Sauveur)

Fran is a great tour guide. She combines the information with a good impression of life in Montreal now and in past times and is enthusiastic and engaging. I’ll book another tour with her.
