About the tour

Join my tour to explore another treasure of Saint Petersburg, Pavlovsk residence. It’s one the numerous summer residences of the Romanovs which is often undeservingly outshined by Peterhof or Tsarskoye Selo. ⠀ It was a luxury gift from empress Catherine the Great to her only (legitimate) son Paul not because she wanted to make her son happy but to make sure he would be as far away from the throne as possible. Sounds like an interesting story, right? Pavlovsk is the best place to talk more about Catherine the Great’s life, family values and how the complicated relationships with her son affected the life of the entire Russian Empire after her death when Paul would finally get the throne for himself. Let’s have another history lesson together in the magnificent surroundings of the Pavlovsk park. We’ll see the private garden of Paul’s wife, Maria Feodorovna. It’s the best place possible to talk about family life of the emperor. We’ll walk along the park to admire some beautiful sculptures and pavilions.

Another fabulous place to explore with Anna. Riding in the carriage to explore the Park grounds was a fun thing. My favourite sites were the sculptures in the glade and the Rose Pavilion which had a stunning interior.
