The Park Street – One of the most happening streets of Kolkata city. They say that “Park Street” never sleeps! The name Park Street came from the famous deer park of Sir Elijah Impey, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Calcutta (Till 2000, Kolkata city was known as Calcutta) during the British India period in the year 1773 to 1789. Now officially Park Street is named as “Mother Teresa Sarani”, in memory of Mother Teresa but it is still famous as Park Street! The street got many pubs and restaurants from the British India time and still it is a major hangout spot of the city. During the festival seasons like Diwali, Christmas and New Year Eve, Park Street is beautifully decorated with bright lights and it pulls a huge crowd. Some famous and old restaurants and confectioneries in Park Street are The Park Hotel, The Flury’s, Moulin Rouge, Peter Cat, Bar B Q, Marco Polo, Trincas, Olypub and many more. One of the top school and college of Kolkata is St.Xavier’s school/college and it is in Park Street. If anyone visits in this part of the world then I should suggest you to book a seat for dinner from the restaurant list of Park Street!
