Oxford Botanic Garden is the oldest in the UK. Founded in 1621 it is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. Originally created to grow medicinal plants for use by medical students, the garden remains a world leading centre for botanical research and plant conservation. Away from its academic importance, it is a beautiful oasis of vibrant colours in the heart of the medieval university city. Its displays show off flowers, plants and trees from around the globe and as we stroll around the many pathways we will enjoy not only the garden itself but some wonderful views of ancient college buildings and the peaceful riverside. Join me for an unforgettable walk through this very special place.
Hello and thanks for visiting. I’m Ian, a professionally qualified guide. I hold the Blue Badge, which is the UK’s highest tour guiding qualification and have many years’ experience guiding in both English and German. My passion is sharing places and stories with people from around the world, and helping them discover more about this country and particularly the Midlands, where I have lived for almost all my life. I have a friendly and informal style and always aim to bring history to life with anecdotes about people and events rather than just dry facts. I love the sense of community with Heygo and enjoy seeing the same people joining multiple tours. On all of my tours you can expect information, humour and friendly conversation. I want you to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience as you take a walk with your new friend in England. Wherever in the world you are from, I look forward to giving you the warmest of British welcomes.
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Oxford with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Oxford. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
