About the tour

We have teamed up with Epic, The Irish Emigration Museum, one of the best tourist attractions in the world (EPIC have once again been nominated as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards, following wins in 2019 and 2020) to show you one of the most emotional and important exhibitions that you will ever see in your lifetime. We will be joined by one of Epic's expert guides who will bring us on a tour of this evocative exhibition. Across the generations, Irish LGBTQ+ people have emigrated and found opportunities to live and love abroad. EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, in partnership with the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, are proud to play a role in illuminating this hidden history of Irish emigration. Across six themes – exclusion, community, love, defiance, solidarity and return – Out in the World highlights twelve stories from the vast history of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ diaspora. The exhibition also features an artwork by award winning Irish designer and multi-disciplinary artist Richard Malone. Visit the exhibition at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin from June 8th to December 1st 2021. The exhibition will also tour to select locations across the world in 2022.

Meet Hazel

Hazel loves exploring and regaling people with stories and giving a glimpse into the city known for its love of cheeky rhymes and ballads. Her background is in the travel and tourism industry in Ireland, and she has juggled roles ranging from tutor to travel agent. Travelling has always been in her blood. Hazel’s grandfather was a driver-guide, and her interest in becoming a guide started almost a decade ago when she took a group of excited students on a walking tour of Dublin, captivating them with the city’s culture. Since then, there has been no turning back. With her tours, you might find yourself mingling with the locals, who love to get involved with the tour! With a dash of surprise, Hazel loves entertaining people with fun stories and experiences. “An unforgettable experience that I had was when myself and a friend got chatting with a well-known Irish author and we ended up back at his house cooking spaghetti Bolognese!” she says. She is the owner of Virtually Irish, a new and exciting venture showcasing the best of what Ireland has to offer.
