Have you ever felt like you were in the "glorious Eden"? That is how the British poet and traveler Lord Byron described Sintra, a small town just outside of the capital of Portugal, where for centuries our kings went to spend their summers at. It's microclimate provides it with and exuberant vegetation and the ideal weather when compared to the hot Lisbon summers, and nobility and bourgeoisie followed step and built their own holiday residences here. On this tour we will explore the center of the town of Sintra, at the base of the mountain with the same name, and we will understand the importance of Sintra during its Moorish occupation , through the Middle Ages and the 19th century romanticism period. Join me on this journey through time!
Inês has been a licensed guide in Portugal since 2008. Her mother was a French and Portuguese teacher who fell in love with a Peruvian musician and craftsman in Paris. She considers herself a storyteller with a wide range of interests, from history to gastronomy, growing food in her small garden, hiking in the company of her wonderful dog and dancing. She is currently taking a massage course and learning how to sew! All in all, this means that Inês loves to explore different layers and perspectives of Lisbon, its culture and to share it with others!

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Sintra with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Sintra. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.
Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
