About the tour

This tour shows the most beautiful part of the old town. It will start with the central part of the Calea Victoriei, the old main street of the town. Facing each other two monumental buildings: the old Post Office, now History Museum of Romania, and the splendid Savings Bank. In a corner, there is an old department store, the copy of a well-known Paris building. Follow a famous 19th-century restaurant, called Carul cu Bere (The Beer Wagon) and a splendid small church, both in the Stavropoleos Street. In the courtyard, there are several crosses and altars, taken from churches that were destroyed in the communist regime. That part of the old town was "downtown Bucharest", the bank quarter, with the Stock Exchange, which has functioned there before WW II and with the palace of the National Bank of Romania. The Lipscani street, former a commercial street, is now full of fashionable cafes, pubs, but also with a very elegant bookshop. The tour will end with the beautiful Vilacross Galeries.

The video stopped a few times and the audio was very distorted. I’m sorry Mike had so many technical issues.

Mike, a very knowledgeable guide, took us to some stunningly beautiful buildings in Romania and some hidden jewels as well. Don’t miss Mike’s tours! You’ll want to put Romania on your bucket list.
