About the tour

Ready to explore more of Odessa’s old town? On this live-streamed tour we’ll walk along old tranquil streets of the city’s historic quarter and see off-the-beaten path areas. We’ll stroll along the shortest street in the old town, which boasts all kinds of architectural styles and marvelous buildings. You’ll find out why a gothic style castle was called the Sheikh’s palace and how oranges saved the young city. We’ll uncover the story of the “House with Atlases” and see one of the oldest remaining buildings in the city. Of course, we’ll go into the old backyards. They are keyholes into Odessa’s past. They harbor everything from traces of the city legends to a forgotten well, the only source of so precious back then drinking water in that area. It’s old, vintage Odessa, full of character and off the beaten track passageways. We’ll glimpse at the local restaurants and discuss what has secured Odessa’s reputation as being one of the greatest culinary and cultural centers of Ukraine and the former USSR. We’ll explore
the history, culture and lifestyle that make Odessa so unique and set it apart from other Ukrainian places.

Meet OlgaOdessaWalks

Olga's journey to guiding and establishing Odessa Walks started in 1998 when she left her home country and went to California to attend a business school. What made her move across the ocean back then? First off, interest to see the world and desire to explore her career options. And while studies were certainly important, traveling was her real passion. After obtaining an MBA degree she has worked in California, London and Moscow. Finally, in 2011 she made a decision to return to Odessa, her anchor city. Why? To build something of her own, based on what she loves most: meeting people, this amazing city and its rich heritage. As a result, Odessa Walks Ltd. came to live in 2011. Since then she's been managing the business and providing in-person tours. Since the fall of 2020 she's been creating online Odessa experiences.

Olga's tour travelled to some lesser know attractions in Odessa. Her knowledge of the streetscape, architecture and important residents was excellent. An educational and fun tour.
