Odessa is definitely not a “city of Russian Orthodox churches”. Being a big melting pot since its founding, the city welcomed people of different confessions. Still today, it boasts beautiful Catholic and Russian Orthodox Cathedrals, a Protestant Presbyterian, Greek Orthodox and Lutheran churches, as well as several synagogues. We’ll start this live-stream tour at the main Catholic Cathedral and finish at the Russian Orthodox church. While strolling along the streets of the old town, we’ll follow in the footsteps of Odessa’s Greeks and uncover the story of the Greek liberation movement. We’ll talk about the city’s music heritage and visit the backyard where one of the 20th century most prominent violin players David Oistrakh grew up. We’ll walk by a Protestant Presbyterian church and talk about Odessa’s French community. And finally, one of the oldest city squares will share an exciting story of its survival of the Soviet period. Join me to explore Odessa’s fascinating history and beautiful old town. Sights included into the live-stream tour: • Catholic Cathedral (exterior) • Russian Orthodox Cathedral (exterior) • Protestant Presbyterian church (exterior) • City Garden and the monument to Odessa’s Time • Greek square and the Feliki Eteria headquarters • Cathedral square with the Vorontsov monument
Olga's journey to guiding and establishing Odessa Walks started in 1998 when she left her home country and went to California to attend a business school. What made her move across the ocean back then? First off, interest to see the world and desire to explore her career options. And while studies were certainly important, traveling was her real passion. After obtaining an MBA degree she has worked in California, London and Moscow. Finally, in 2011 she made a decision to return to Odessa, her anchor city. Why? To build something of her own, based on what she loves most: meeting people, this amazing city and its rich heritage. As a result, Odessa Walks Ltd. came to live in 2011. Since then she's been managing the business and providing in-person tours. Since the fall of 2020 she's been creating online Odessa experiences.
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Odessa with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 60 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Odessa. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

I love finding tours to the Ukraine as my grandparents were from there. I was amazed at the wealth of information that Olga shared during the tour!
