Japan is a mountainous country with roughly 70% of the land area being mountains that have traditionally held important religious and cultural significance. Hiking is a very popular activity among the Japanese, and there are tons of hiking trails for all levels of hikers across the country. Kamikochi offers one of Japan’s most spectacular mountain sceneries in the Northern Japan Alps surrounded by the 3,000-meter-high peaks. This seasonally open mountain destination is a real treat for anyone excited by dramatic sceneries. Together, we’ll embark on a leisurely hike walking along the water and viewing beautiful mountains. The development around Kamikochi has been kept to a minimum in order to protect the beauty of nature. There’s something magical, even therapeutic, about being in an area where the air is always fresh and there’s greenery around you. Let’s enjoy a day in rural Japan and see another side of Japan!
Eriko has been sharing her love of Japanese culture with people around the globe since 2017. In her words, Japan is beautiful, unique, and weird all at the same time! She's been lucky to have traveled to dozens of amazing countries and she got a chance to live overseas, in Australia and Canada, for a couple of years. Being exposed to other cultures has given her a new lens to look at her hometown and its traditions. Her great-grandfather was a kimono craftsman in Tokyo, and today she is honoured to wear the kimonos that were passed down through generations. She is looking forward to exploring Japan and sharing a smile with you!
