About the tour

If you have wanted to visit the Great Wall of China, this tour is for you. The Great Wall is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and Mutianyu Great Wall is the one of the best sections to experience the majestic feeling the wall inspires. The Mutianyu section was first built in the mid-6th century and it is a favorite of travelers, often being rated as “the best sites in Beijing.” It’ popular for its combination of preserved and natural sections, its rich history, and of course the amazing views. As you walk the steps to the first watchtower (the section has 22 watchtowers!), your guide will start to share the Great Wall’s thousands of year history, how it was built, its purpose and how it fit with China’s culture. Along the way you’ll walk in historic soldiers’ footsteps, scan out the same watchtower windows used for scanning for invading armies and take in amazing views of the mountain vistas. Join us for a visit to this iconic site.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Beijing with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.

The tour will last about 60 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Beijing. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide’s hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
