How can travel show us the world outside while unveiling a world inside? In this tour, musician, music producer, and DJ Tanya Sharma (tānāshāh), takes us on a deeply personal journey to show the deep connection between travel and creative practice. Tanya dives into her post-graduation solo backpacking trip across Europe and discusses how her free-spirited journeys, particularly in Paris and Berlin, encouraged her to strengthen her musicianship. In this “tour”, Tanya recollects striking moments in her travels that pushed her to introspect. Captured in fragments of memory and scribbled in journals written in buses and trains, these moments come to life in this tour as narration meets musical playback. An iconic Daft Punk tune, echoes of underground Parisian musical acts, an original international co-production, the emotive power of a Berlin club (Trésor), and vibrant and eclectic touch of Indian-electric fusion: these are the “sights” of this show that complement the narration. The guide creates a personal mixed-media montage of musical life intersecting travel, as if to ask “why do we do it?” and spinning her meaning to the “finding oneself through travel” narrative.
Tanya is a management consultant by day and musician and storyteller by night. Born and raised in New Delhi, India, and currently based in Ottawa, Canada, Tanya has backpacked solo across Europe, lived and worked in three Canadian cities, and combined her love for language, history, and culture with her passion for music. In her live streams, Tanya hopes to evoke a sense of discovery, inspiration, and most of all, wonder
