About the tour

White sausages with sweet mustard, fresh pretzels, and beer. Yes, folks, that is a Bavarian Breakfast! What may sound unusual to you is what we call a typical Bavarian tradition. It’s how we like to start our day! Join Synthia and Tobias in their home cooking class and learn more about the famous “Weisswurst“, the white sausage, and the particular way to prepare and eat it. Find out how pretzels were accidentally invented by a clumsy baker’s apprentice to become the favorite to-go-snack for Bavarians. And yes, we’re talking about breakfast, but still: white sausages need to come with a beer. Make sure to pick the right type, a wheat beer. Your tour guides and Munich locals, Synthia and Tobias, will tell you why!

Meet Synthia

Synthia is a professional tour guide and a Munich local with Cypriot roots. She has studied and worked in the United States, in Greece and Italy, and she holds a passion for traveling and meeting people from other countries. Synthia is fluent in German, English, Greek, Italian and French – now working on improving her Spanish. Her professional career took her to the TV and movie marketing business, with Munich being one of the biggest entertainment hubs in Germany. She is a graduate of Media and Communication, Political Science and Italian Literature. Some years ago, she decided to start her own tour guiding companies, so she co-founded Your Local Friend Tours Munich and Ludwig & Lola Stadtführungen in München with Tobias. For Synthia, being a tour guide is the best job in the world. Showing people around my home city and taking them to my favorite places makes me happy. She enjoys long walks, and she rides her bike to manage longer distances. Synthia’s best food moment: Packing her basket with leftovers from the fridge, meeting husband, kids and friends in a Biergarten to eat, drink and enjoy what Munich so much stands for: Gemütlichkeit.

What to expect

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

Ohmigosh! So, every single tour I've done on Heygo has been insanely awesome in its own right. BUT, Synthia and Tobias were an absolute DELIGHT on the Breakfast the Bavarian Way tour! We got history, we got food, we got beer, and best of all, we got good German (strike that! BAVARIAN!!) humor!!! I seriously was laughing out loud in my house... by myself! I would do any of their tours on repeat! :)

Who knew a Bavarian breakfast would be such fun! Loved seeing you and Tobias together sharing your customs, telling us about your breakfast and its history. I was very sorry to hear Oktoberfest was cancelled for a second year, but I’m sure it was a wise decision in view of the world situation. Oktoberfest 2022 will be that much better. Look forward to your tours, individually or together, you’re are both great!
