Just 1 hour driving time away from Barcelona, Discover with me the beauty of this 4000ft (1234m) Holy Mountain and Shrine, with its Benedictine Monastery founded 1000years ago, home for the veneration of the “Black Madonna”, the black colored Patroness of Catalonia. Spectacular views over the Valley, unique Rock Formation possibly inspiration for Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, its liberal Benedictine Monks, Farmers Market with its yummy “mató cheese with honey”, Cable Cars, Mountain Climbers paradise, Beautifully ornated Basilica home also the “Escolania” (oldest European Boys Choir), and one of the famous stages of the St. James Pilgrims Way. I will drive the winding road up there early and I will wait for you to arrive and participate in this unique incredible experience.
"I started guiding when I was 17 as a tour director, and I've since traveled the world and lived in many cities to learn the 4 foreign languages that I now guide in. I have always loved to be among people from all parts of the planet, and I am so lucky now to be able to host them virtually in Barcelona," says Josep. Born and raised in Barcelona, Josep, or "Pepus" as everyone calls him, is a licensed guide with more than 25 years of experience showing people around his incredible city. He takes pride in his extensive knowledge of the masterpieces of Antonio Gaudi, the most outstanding architect of our time whose works include the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and La Pedrera to name a few. He has hosted many distinguished guests, including foreign dignitaries, celebrities, actors, and 1000s of other visitors around his city. "An unforgettable memory was when I was told that I had to guide a personality whose name they could not disclose, and then I had to show Barcelona to the first man that had stepped on the moon. Neil Armstrong! I felt very honored!" he says. On his tours, you might also get to discover some culinary delights. Josep loves cooking up a gastronomical storm and if you're lucky, he might just take you along to a gourmet food tour, especially "Mediterranean cooking that they would not dare to order or try on their own…and then they end up loving it forever!" he laughs. Pepus is your man if you want to get under the skin of Barcelona, and discover the culture and history oozing from every street!

So glad that VT and Josep gave us the opportunity to visit Montserrat. A beautiful place, magnificent views and fascinating history. And how exciting it was to have a glimpse inside the Cathedral.

Seeing Monserrat again was very touching. I was there in 2017 and was able to see and touch the Black Madonna. During my visit in 2017 there was a service and it was nice to see and hear the choir. I will definitely watch this tour again.

I really enjoyed Josep’s knowledgeable tour. His English is excellent. I have never been to Montserrat and because of what I saw I would like to go here in the future. Well done!

Beautiful mountain town! I visited when I was 11, but don't really remember it. Great to be 'back'!
